![]() I upgraded to 4.18 from 4.14. When I tried to open program, it would bounce in the dock for a second or two, then disappear. Further attempts to open it resulted in nothing at all. I then dumped the program, all prefs, all receipts, anything related to Limewire including the dmg and started from scratch. New dmg, new install, same result. I then dumped everything again, upgraded anything I could (though I was already up to date on Software Update) and re-updated Java (release 7). Then reinstalled...same resjult: nothing but a two second bounce on the first try. I then dumped everything related to limewire and downloaded previous version 4.14. Now it does the same thing, that is, bounce, disappear, no launch. What's going on here? I see a couple of threads, none suffieciently answered and I've tried all suggestions that apply, including Startup from a safe boot (nothing) Does anyone know what's going on? ![]() Hey Joe Wish we could find the answer to such problems: the Console entries I've seen indicate a problem with Java on a few Macs. Obviously, the precise conditions that trigger the error haven't been discovered yet, since most Macs are not affected. Would you have the same problem with a clean install and upgrade of your machine (or another)? That would tell you if the problem is with your current system or not. If you created a new user account and everything worked as expected, that would limit the problem to your current user account. Wish there were an known easy fix. Anything you can do to help focus the problem will help work toward a solution. |

![]() Hi Stief, Tried a new user account. Same result. I don't understand why when I purged all traces of 418 that 414 acts like the update. What changed from the update that now affects an older version? Any chance that I downloaded some sort of malware from limewire? I apparently downloaded something that isn't a song but always appears at the top of the search results list with the requested title and each time it's always the same kbs. It now appears with a check mark next to it on every search result (with a new title). I can't locate the actual file and it doesn't show up in virus or adware scans. Regarding a clean install: I think I'll wait till limewire fixes this problem. I'll miss it, but I'm not up to all the extra work. |

![]() Hi Joe OS X probably didn't install 414. To revert to 414 you'd also have to remove the "Install LimeWire.pkg" in the OS X Library folder (the Library on the hard drive, not the OS X Library folder in the User account). The Installer won't revert to an earlier version if a more recent one was installed. If you wait for LW to fix the situation, you're probably out of luck because LimeWire can't fix a situation where something is particular to your situation, rather than a problem with LW on OS 10.4.11 generally. I hear you about the system install--it is indeed quite a pain. Still, good to know that the problem isn't just in your user account. As for the malware, I doubt it. The Windows stuff doesn't affect macs. What malware scanners are you using? I'd suspect a malware scanner for a mac is more likely to be the problem since they can be pretty intrusive. |

![]() Already removed the .pkg file from the library. Otherwise it would be just an upgrade. I used MacScan, which I downloaded for the occasion, so I doubt it would be a problem itself since it wasn't there until yesterday and is not now running in the background. |
