Default Installation failure

I have tried to install Limewire on an oldish Powerbook G4 with Mac OSX 10.4.11 but without success. The response is repeatedly that the installation has failed due to a terminal defect..... or some such. I have logged the failure with Limewire. Any suggestions?

LW runs fine on an oldish iBook here, so perhaps a Safe Boot and repeated Software update will fix the underlying problem.

If not, then check if LW will work in a new System Preferences->Accounts->New User Account. If so, delete the LimeWire Preferences folder in the old User account's Library to see if that removes the problem.

Thanks for your time and help. The system is kept updated, so I shall try your other suggestion. I have also successfully used older Mac OS X to run limewire on other machines and am mystified why this one is causing problems.

You can also retrieve the info about the failure from the OS X Console (Apps->Utilities), which helps give more specific clues about what is failing.

Best wishes

I also tried to install LW in a iBookG4 with OSX 10.4.11 and update 2008-007 but the installer get blocked and need a force quit. I tried the installer in an other machine (MacBook\OSX1 10.5) and the installer crash at the same part of the process: "running the installer script".
I also tryed to download the dmg again and again and always from the official site..

I THINK THAT THE INSTALLER OF THE BASIC VERSION PROVIDED BY THE OFFICIAL SITE SIMPLY NOT WORKS! BUT AS THEY DON'T GIVE OUT A CONTACT THERE IS NO WAY TO INFORM THEM AND WE HAVE TO WAIT THAT THEI REALIZE THE MISS BY THEMSELVES.

(If it's a miss...maybe they just want us to purchase the Pro version but honestly I won't buy a product that I never see working before!)

Weird. I checked by installing the basic LW 4.18.8 from scratch, and all worked properly on my iBook G4 running OS 10.4.11.

So, no conspiracy here, and the installer was not blocked.

Can you be more specific about what errors you are getting about being "blocked"?

On my laptop (as in other 5 machines of friend of mine) the installer crash (quit) or block (Stop - I mean.. waited for 30min and nothing happened) when start to display the message "Running installation script" and none of us have been able to made it works after many time that we tried to re-run,re-download,re-delete old files and libraries...
...just to know, where did you get your installer and when?

No conspiration theory here! Just a little bit hangry for the lack of a contact option so that you cannot know if somebody it's working on the problem or not!
I really need it 'cause I'm working in Thailand (and I have to stay for long time) where other programs such AMule are not workings for unknown (to me) reason!
