Cpu Level High

Hi there, i bought Limewire Pro about 2 weeks ago but i notice my CPU levels are unusually high when my Limewire is downloading, up around 90% sometimes on one or both of my iMac CPU's, its an intel 2.0GHz duo, this is happening about 80-90% of the time

cheers

Hi Paolo

Pro support is available at Lime Wire » LimeWire PRO Support Center

Your situation does not seem normal, unless LW is downloading very popular large files (or torrents), which are usually also uploaded to others at the same time. You can use the view menu to turn on the "Monitor" pane which will show the uploads to see if this is the case. If so, turning off "partial file sharing" in the preferences will help.

Hi stief,

cheers im thinking maybe because i did not delete my standard Limewire before i installed my Pro, could be causing the CPU to go mental so i was thinking of deleting all the Limewire applications & associated files then reinstalling the Limewire Pro

I actually found it to be one of my torrents i was downloading, soon as is deleted it the CPU went down & has not been up since

I have a need to be able to run several (three) different apps at the same time for what I do. When I launch Limewire, and begin anything, searching, downloading, etc. my cpu hits 99% and everything else freezes. Limewire 5.0 had all the cpu cycles.

OS XP Home, SP 2 installed
Cpu AMD Athlon 2.19G 3200+
1.5G Ram

I actually have gone back to Limewire 4.18, it seems to run better

LW 5 does not handle large quantities of shares or large amounts of incomplete files very well. In my experience the two most guilty media types are music & images. Only files that show in your P2P network window are files that are being shared, unless you also are using the 'Share with Friends' option, which I haven't tried, but guess such files would show in that window.
BTW in LW 5, when you Cancel a download file from the Download window, it also deletes the incomplete file which is very different to LW 4.

Old LW preferences folder 'might' also slow your LW 5 down.

Personally, I do also prefer using LW 4. LW 5 is still missing many of LW 4's tools, some of which will not return but some will at a future time so I've been informed.

Thank you Paolo. That is what I did as well, when this first occurred. I am going to give the latest update one more chance. I am guessing it will probably do it again, and when it does, I will delete the latest version and go back to that last stable release series (4.x.x)
