Only songs with artist listed first work on my system

Running OSX version 10.5.6

Was really scratching my head trying to figure out why some songs downloaded to my computer would play and others would not even though they appear to be perfectly normal MP3 files. finally noticed a common denominator in the songs that would play. In every one, the file name begins with the artist and not the song. In the songs that will not play they are just the opposite. Anyone encountered this before and can anything be done so that I can play these songs?
