yes lmao ... LW's media player is really not that good. Many others have complained about same problem, including one of the moderators on this forum. Since LW's primary function is to share files, that's where the majority of its cpu power goes. The media player only gets a small priority. Yes I know the media player is good for checking to be sure it's ok.

But may I make a suggestion? Disable LW's media player (LW's preferences -> Player, uncheck option) & download VOX & make it your default audio player. VOX can play a very wide range of audio formats & is excellent for checking if songs are playable or not. You will find a link to the program here Alternate Audio Players & support plug-ins under OSX section & notes about it at bottom of that post. To make it your default audio program, you will need to select one of each type of file such as mp3, m4a, etc. & File menu -> Get info. then change to open with Vox, then select option to 'Change All' of that type to open with Vox. More on setting up default program here How to change default program in OSX (click on blue link) .. examples are video & torrents but same principle. Oh if you do make VOX the default audio program, the icons of your audio files will change from being iTunes file icons. I hope that's ok for you. iTunes should still function perfectly well & auto add songs from LW as well.
