Limewire 5.1 won't start after java update - answer is installing LW 5.1.4 or 5.2.2 Beta The answer for those who can no longer open their LW 5.1 after updating their Java in recent days is to install the LW 5.1.4 version released to fix this problem http://www.limewire.com/download/ or the LW 5.2 Beta which is quite stable: LimeWire 5.2.2 (Beta) - Lime Wire Pro users go to your personal Pro download page to download the recently released 5.1.4 Pro version. (Beta version link is on right side of page.) Last edited by Lord of the Rings; June 24th, 2009 at 05:18 PM. |

When you purchase Pro, you will receive an email from sales/customer support with a link to your personal pro download page. I always recommend people Bookmark that page. To check if LW 5 is compatible on your computer, check to see if you have Java 6 (1.6) installed because LW 5 requires java 6; Setting up Java for Leopard (see 2nd image) If you do not have Java 6 listed then you are restricted to LW 4. To install LW 4, you will first need to remove the LW 5 install package file from Receipts folder else the system will not let you install an earlier version; Receipts folder sample image |
