![]() Before my hard drive malfunction (file structures problem) I used Limewire Pro with no problem. I had to scrub my hard drive and re-load all my apps. I have a Mac G4 800 MHz, PowerPC, running Tiger (OS 10.4.11), with 1GB memory. I tried to install a new version of Limewire Basic from the website, and it seemed to install. When it went to the set-up screen, it stalled, and would not complete. Clicking on the Limewire icon does nothing. No response whatsoever. Eventually, I tried again to re-install Limewire, (again using Version 4:18.8 for Tiger), and now I get the the dialogue box stating that there is nothing to install. To complicate matters, I decided to try to uninstall Limewire, and then try to re-install. During the uninstall process, I got an error box stating "the uninstaller can not complete due to an error." No indication of what the error might be. I deleted the limewire preferences from my utility/preferences folder, but this did not change anything. Looking over the other help threads on this website, I have checked on the following conditions: Java (using J2SE 5.0), and I followed the Firewall instructions using port 6346, and indicating to allow Gnutella/Limewire downloads. I also downloaded VUZE 4.2.0.8 without difficulty. So, I am in a loop. Part of Limewire apparently remains on my drive, and I am not able to complete a new installation. Suggestions would be very welcome. |

![]() Hi hldebaker, I'm not a Mac user. But until one comes along, have a read of this thread (click on link) for info about the 'there is nothing to install' error: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/genera...ing-tiger.html |

![]() Unfortunately LW 5 requires Java 1.6 (6) which apple did not make available for OSX 10.4, also Java 1.6 apple only made in 64 bit technology which can only be used on the newer intel machines. So you are limited to using LW 4. You will need to remove the install limewire.pkg file from receipts folder to be able to install an earlier version of LW else the system will not allow you to. Receipts folder sample image, which Birdy's link also links to but indirectly. Likewise my fastest G4 was a 720 version, which runs Tiger. I now use a MacPro from Feb last year which is one of their intel machines. |

![]() Thanks so much. I followed your instructions of trashing the Limewire receipts folder, as both threads suggested, ran the install for Limewire 4.18 once again, and it completed the install process. You made my day! |

![]() One last question. Since Limewire is working now, every time I boot up my computer, Limewire automatically opens, taking time to load everything. I have the preference unchecked for "open automatically at startup", and did hit "apply", but it still insists on opening completely. I have to wait, and then manually close it if I want to use some other application. Can you suggest something to make the preference work? |

![]() You can only use LW 4 versions, see http://www.gnutellaforums.com/downlo...downloads.html ![]() |
