Sounds Issues (not just with Limewire)

Maybe someone can help. Sorry it's not directly related to Limewire

I had put 2 songs from limewire into a "loop file" on garage band - I wanted to adjust some stuff on it for a slideshow I'm doing in Iphoto. Somehow I pressed onto the song file in garage band and *poof! My sound is gone -not just in garage band, but Limewire *and Itunes. It just makes this popping sound when the song starts and then nothing. Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Megan

the first thing that comes to mind is your sound source settings in the control panel

start>control panel>sounds and audio devices...check all the settings...

I haven't used garage band before, but I'm sure there are also settings in there which you may have inadvertently changed..

hmm. nope pretty sure I didn't "mute" anything. Went and checked anyway... made sure the output controls were not muted. Went back to limewire to retest and still all I get is loud popping noises. Not good!

hmmmm....have you tried rebooting?

were the files already tied and looped?

is it possible that somehow you tried to play both files at once and created a conflict?

have you tried playing a file directly from a folder?

have you tried playing a video file and gotten the same effect on the audio?

a lot of questions, I know, but just trying to give you an idea of various thought processes that might lead you to success in dealing with your issue...

if everything in sight failed I would be tempted to uninstall my audio drivers, then reinstall...if that failed I would try backing up data from garage band, then uninstalling it....if that worked, but upon re-using old settings (which you backed up) then obviously something wacko happened when you were in garage band....

and..if that is a warez version of GB, well....enuf said, right?

Woo! A simple reboot worked! Thank God. Should have thought of that ;)

kewl....rebooting is usually one of my first things to try as that will solve a lot of problems, but certainly not all of them

I'll try and keep that in mind next time - Thanks for the help :xirokrotima:
