Default Opening QuickTime file .mov using QT ver 10 in Snow Leopard

I'm trying out the free version of Limewire for the MacOSX ver. 5.5.3 that I believe is a Beta version. I want to make sure that my Mac software will open files of subjects of interest.

I have already hit a problem. the .mov files cannot be opened as the error message says it requires QuickTime ver 7.0. Well, Mac OSX Snow Leopard is already up to QuickTime ver 10.0.

Another problem I see is when I request subjects of interest, such as Piano Recitals, the majority of sites I get have spam in it.

Although I was tempted to upgrade to PRO, at the moment I don't see how this will be any better with the issues I am currently facing.

I will check the forums for solutions, but if anyone has a solution please let me know. Many thanks.
