Default tough one

I have(got for free recently) an old Mac os X 10.1 and the version of lime wire is 4.08 i believe. I say this cause when I was download the version i was, limewire said it could not download that version, but it could this one....cool....but never really paid attention

My problem is limewire seems to work great...I find the files I'm lookiing for but it won't open the zip files.

All that happens is the little icon of the program for opening the zip files bounces a couple times and thats it.....no warning sign or alerts anything has gone wrong.

Is there something else I need to add or download???

I mainly connect thru wireless router

Greetings jtrichards2002,

Welcome to the Gnutella forums!

What type of files are you trying to open (i..e, music, video, software)?

Many here avoid .zip files as they are often corrupted, spam, or worse. The file you attempted to unzip was probably corrupted.

Just to add to what Blackhorse 70V has said, zip files are usually viruses or some other form of malware, that is why most people (mainly PC users) avoid them. Because you are a MAC user you are largely immune, unless you are unfortunate enough to run into malware specially crafted for MACs.

So what both Blackhorse 70V and I are advising is that you stay away from any form of compressed files on the gnutella network.

Ok, thanks for the replies and input.

To blackhorse.....the file I am looking for is program file(software).

I have Mac OS X 10.1 on this laptop, but when I got it there was 10.4 Tiger on it. The last owner forgot the admin password, so I used the install disk to reset everything and I now have a laptop which almost nothing is compatable to it any more. I'm running 1.0.8 forefox....cripes

So if Limewire is off the table is there any torrent sites that would be would work. I tried a couple that said they would but could not get then to open up.....Not much seems to be compatible with this laptop.

This is my first apple also, always had windows.

I do like somethings they do but some others can be frustrating.

Aagin thanks for the replies...Blackhorse and Bob
