![]() Hi..I downloaded the latest pay version the other day for Mac and have had nothing but problems ever since. I run on a G4 IBOOK with 128 megs of ram and plenty of hard storage. We've allocated more memory to Limwire, and re-installed. I usually get kicked off any time I click out of Limewire, and even withing Limewire, I get kicked off whenever attempting to download. Usually, I can successfully search, but no download.. It's very tempremental, easily the slowest, most stodgy software on my desktop, and totally frustrating. Is there a cure.??? Typically, as you know, Macs run software made for Macs flawlessly..this has the look and feel of virtual PC....very unimpressed currently, but willing to try to see if there is a fix. |

![]() I'm no expert, but found the following helped. First, LW really does need a whole stack of RAM - close to 64Meg - to run flawlessly. Compare this to the RAM used by OS 9 or 10 and there won't be much left out of your G4's 128, which isn't really that much these days. Memory is dirt cheap - try Crucial.com and you may be surprised. The extra memory won't hurt other applications either. Also, check the memory allocated to the LW application. If you download new versions, it tends to go back to its default setting of about 2Meg. Bump it back up to around 60 and things may improve. Yes, it *is* slow sometimes, but P2P networks are. Try reducing your upload slots and bandwidth, but if the network is busy anyway it will surely affect your download success. Stick with it - I've downloaded over 14 gigabytes so far. If you've tried all of this already, then sorry to waste your time. |
