I use MusicMatch Jukebox. Seems to work well enough for me.

Default Programs for mp3 music on Macs

I have used Macast (www.macast.com) for several years and love it. I currently have over 26 hours of music on it. I don't know whether or not there is a limit. It costs about $20, but is well worth it. The e-mail support is very good.

It has a nice features, like a place to put data on each selection (artist, song, album, date, etc.) plus a place to add song lyrics, or whatever else you'd like to add.

There is a patch available to make iTunes 1 (not 2) run on 8.6. Should be at versiontracker.

Hmmm...I can't find the 8.6 iTunes patch at versiontracker, either. They've done away with their advanced search for some reason. I do know, however, that such a thing exists. I'll try to find out more for you.

Default Macamp

I use itunes for mp3 , but for other formats like ogg vorbis - which some people swear by - I use Macamp.

http://www.macamp.com/macamp.html

It hasn't got the same facilities as Winamp, but there are a good range of plugins available which add the ability to play other formats which itunes can't handle.

Thanks for the link manny's_mad, I just didn't notice it the first time I dounloaded the patch... so now all I need is itunes 1.... as the last thing, can anyone tell me where it can still be dounloaded? At cnet and apple.com all they had for dounload was version 2.
