Please Help if You Can!

Hi,

I am trying to download MP3 files; however, the files I am downloading come to me formatted as "text documents" and I cannot get them to open.

Why don't theses songs come to me formatted as MP3 files that I can listen to and load into iTunes?

WHAT DO I DO TO CONVERT THESE DOWNLOADED SONGS ARRIVING AS TEXT FILES THAT I CAN'T OPEN...INTO LISTENABLE MP3 format?
