Default 2.5.5 and the empty cue

I know there's a pref to keep all incompletes (which I assume includes the massive list of REQUERY) for a certain amount of days. But through all the versions of Limewire I've used, it seems like every other day I open the application and the entire cue has been blanked out.
What's the point of this?

Quit LimeWire, delete the downloads.dat file in the Incomplete folder, and open LimeWire again. The .dat file that keeps track of your partial downloads may have been corrupted.
