new version is a nightmare

i'm using the latest version of limewire basic. i'm on am imac, 9.2.2, dsl connection, 192 ram, enough space on the hard drive.

ever since i downloaded this new version i've had nothing but problems. i can search for 1-3 items just fine. then, the more i search--or am downloading--the more it stalls. then, it freezes (mouse moves, but rest of computer takes 30 seconds to 1 minute to execute commands) then it blanks out part of the screen, which sometimes comes back, sometimes doesn't.

the one command it won't accept, at this point, is "close" or disconnect. at this point, i have to force quit. i lose my downloads, searches etc.

the last version worked perfectly, but this is making me not want to use the program--and this has happened each time i've used it. and leaving it alone and coming back 1/2 hour later doesn't work.

help!

192 Ram is not that much. Try buying a 512Mb to add.

Hi Alyssaanne,

The suggestion to add more memory is not a bad one. LimeWire uses alot of memory on a Mac. I added 256MB to my 128MB and it improved. Not greatly, but it does run smoother. I am able to run (some) other programs while running LimeWire now. I try not to run anything else, usually, because of conflicts, but it is now possible. You can get some real cheap memory upgrades at Costco (if you have access to one).

Good luck. :)

Hi Alyssaanne,

I've had the same problem when I upgraded to 2.6.x and now 2.7. All was fine before I upgraded and I'm using a G4 with 320 MB, OS 9.2.2. Limewire freezes on me immediately after I launch the dam thing. I wish I could go back to the previous working version.

You can. I believe they have links to older versions on the LimeWire website.
