os X upgrade
 

can anyone tell me how to obtain a copy of osX in order to upgrade from 9.x. I understand the .dmg files that are available are not useable unless you already have osX. Is there a different format to look for that will work? or a way to use the .dmg files in os 9.x ?

try .img files
 

If your running Mac OS 9.1, the file type needs to be an .img file. Then disk copy should work. .sit, and .Zip might also work.
