cant download / "already downloadin" / i'm not!

Hi there,
when clicking 'download' on a highly anticipated file, the pop up sez
"already downloading xxxx"
but I am not!
there is no corresponding status line in the download window...

At least not now. I tried to download the file a week ago but before finishing I had to reinstall limewire:
1) uninstall app from 2.3.x
2) remove 3 limewire folders in Preferences manually
(shared, incomplete, .limewire)
3) reinstall 2.7.9

now how can the unfinished download reappear ghostwise after the reinstall?
