library

I have 174 songs in my iTunes library but only 74 shared with Limewire. I see that these 74 are RealTime songs. My question: how do I get the other 100 tunes to be shared with Limewire? Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Here are some possibilities:

Do you have your iTunes music folder set as your Shared Folder?

Do they all have the .mp3 extension?

Have you moved any folders around recently?

LimeWire "hashes" your files. This can take some time. If you don't leave it running long enough to finish, all of them won't show up until the program is on long enough to complete them all. And, if you move the folder(s) around it does them all over again.

Thanks for replying Julie Z.
All are mp3's.
The 100 iTunes are not with the shared ones.
Can I move the iTunes songs into the Limewire folder?
How long does it take for Limewire to organize it?
Yesterday I changed the directory for saving files but it saved more songs than I actually have which freaked me a bit as I didn't know what they were so I returned to the default directory.
Thanks again.

Hmmm... I'm getting confused now. LimeWire was showing more files than you have? Are you sure you had the path right? Setting it to "Music Folder" (for example) and not to "LimeWire Folder" (which has the Music Folder as well as program and other files)? These are just examples.

Anyway, I think it takes less than a minute per file to "hash". It may depend on your connection... not sure.

As for moving your iTunes into LimeWire folder: Will that mess up iTunes? Playlists? Can't you just set your Shared Folder as your Music Folder (which may be in your iTunes folder)? I don't use iTunes, so I don't know how it's set up.

In my case, I have a folder named "Shared Folder". Inside that folder are two folders: "Video Files" and "Music Files".

In LimeWire, I select Tools and choose Options.

In the Options window, I select Sharing.

I click on the LimeWire default choice and click Remove. (Well, I never let LimeWire set the default folder, I always change it in the Set Up Wizard)

I then click Add and browse to my Shared Folder.

I only have to select the one folder as it will include everything inside it (meaning both my Video and Music folders)

You select it by clicking on it once and then clicking Select.

Then click OK. and you're done... Hopefully! ;)

I hope this helps. Let me know if there are any other problems.

Hi JulieZ: You've given me a lot to digest...I did mess up iTunes and had to reinstall after losing two years' growth thinking I'd lost all my songs (as I did by messing around with good old Napster). I'll print your message so I can look at it next week. Until Friday am helping a friend who has a florist shop...Happy St.V Day and thanks again. I'll get back to you next week if you don't mind. Pat

Don't mind at all... Just hope it helps/fixes it for you.
