![]() I am very depressed. When LW first downloaded, it was great. I quickly began to accumulate files and many shared those files. That was nine days ago. Now that I have accumulated 200 or so files. . . Take the last 24 hours as typical. I have managed to download three more files. Mostly, the system connects and just sits there inactive at 0% no matter how many hosts are supposed to be avalanching their data at me. It's the same for uploads. I have more than one hundred transfer interrupts at 1%. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but there is no improvement. I have simply ground to a halt. Is this a feature of the system once you build up file numbers? I suppose I must have done something stupid while trying (unsuccessfully) to share files from iMusic — whatever it is, it resists reinstalling. Can you offer any advice or shall I just give up — the frustration of sitting here just watching the package not work is driving me nuts. |

![]() Do you have many downloads saying "Requery sent" or "Connecting" all the time? The ones saying "Requery sent" are not very likely to be successful anytime soon. You either have to be very patient and wait a couple of days, - or even weeks till they finish or kill the downloads and search for those files manually again. If you have any downloads that say "Connecting" all the time, - do they make LimeWire any slower than normal?

![]() Hi I'm retired so I have nothing better to do with my time than sit in front of this machine. I quickly learned that the Requery message was a sham so I refresh the searches every few minutes until I get a connect. I do not carry a large backlog of circulating Requeries. Take this morning's experience as the new reality. I quickly established four connections. The handshake went through and the package then sat there with the "Downloading from. . ." for nearly two hours until I got tired and cancelled them. During all this time, there was no actual download. Three counters sat idle at 0%. The remaining connect managed to get to 22%. I have a high work ethic. I will put in the hours to get results. But from the frist day when I grabbed some forty or so files, I am now down to almost zero. It's such a shame. The idea of sharing is great but I cannot get any of my other files into Limeware but that's not a problem because now it seems, no-one else can download from me — they all have my problem in reverse (except that now some of the failed uploads are showing the legend "File not found" which I find alarming). Sorry to be such a pathetic failure. Any advice short of suicide wouldbe appreciated. |

![]() Hello David 91 trap_jaw usually responds faithfully, but while you're waiting, clicking on the search button near the top of this page brings up an option to search by username. You can then browse his past suggestions. Learning the ins and out of Limewire, especially when it changes so often, can be interesting once you realize what a complex puzzle connecting peer-to-peer (P2P) is. Cheers--enjoy the retirement. Singapore weather is better than here, right! |

![]() Okay David, if you are expecting a quick fix - there is none. And even as a fan of Gnutella in general I have to say it sucks at the moment. LimeWire merged the largest changes to the main cvs branch today and the beta could be released anytime soon. It will take a few weeks for the changes to be noticeable but I hope they improve your situation and the situation of all users. But in fact LimeWire 2.9 is a version that was just released to ease the transition for the real big changes that will be implemented in Lw 3.0 - so Gnutella's performance will probably not improve at once but gradually within the next two or three months and - honestly - I would try getting some other p2p-applications to use when LimeWire fails. eDonkey for example has an ugly GUI (on non-windows plattforms) and it is kind of slow at times but it is more reliable than gnutella if you have a flatrate.

![]() Thanks for the encouragement — I wasn't expecting a quick fix, assuming that there were simply too many users for the system to cope with. The hope that there is to be a more general upgrade will keep me going. Today, things have speeded up a little, so when everyone else goes off to earn a crust, I'll hope to grab a few more files. One of the perks of retirement. And to my Canadian friend, the weather here sucks. It's not simply the temperature (which tends to be around 33C), it's the humidity. So a quick visit is bearable, but don't try living here unless you have to. |

![]() I am still trying to download three files for the last three hours. I don't think I have patience for this kind of thing. Isnt there another software for mac like Kazaa for pc. My daughter on pc has not only downloaded 33 but shot down too. Help I don't mind paying for it. Macintosh users help! |

![]() I thought I posted a reply to your earlier post, but can't see it. Hmmm. Anyway, could you let us know the versions you are using of OS, ram, and machine? As trap_jaw says, gnutella is under reconstruction for now, so changes will take a while. btw, Kazaa uses a different network (don't ask me !), so comparisons are difficult to interpret. You don't have to pay for the volunteer help you get here. The Pro version offers some support, but I find the posters here very helpful. Donate to Pro to encourage development (I think one of the developers is now working on an OSX box), and if the Pro Support doesn't help, don't be disappointed. Filesharing on Mac requires patience, and more patience, and is still pretty experimental. I've read that 10% success is pretty good. Some users leave their p2p apps running for days, which improves the "reliability" rating. |

![]() Thank you for your help. I have a G4 Mac X.2.1 laptop with a cable internet connection. Reading earlier I found I had to force my IP from behind a fire wall I did that and I see some improvement. But not much. Let me know what I can do and where does one find arabic music. I also want to know where to donate for the net work. Thank you Mira Gokal |
