Unhappy Can't play .mpg movies downloaded from Limewire

Has anyone figured out how to play the movies that I downloaded from Limewire. I get that same message saying that I don't have the software component to play them. Although, in my Quictime player, it says that I have an mpeg component????? I'm running on OS 9 because I can't run Limewire on OS X. Please help! I have a Superdrive...therefore I would love to burn the movies to a DVD!!!

Hi Regann

Do make sure the movies are real first. Some are spam (usually with small file sizes). If Quicktime won't play some of the movies (not all .mpg's use the same codecs), try vlc http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

(Lot's more answers are around if you search these forums: try "component")

Can't install onOSX???? Should be the only way to go on a superdrive machine!

Smile .mpg problem

I downloded the vlc player from videolan and when I open the movie onto it, it's a still image...not an image that I remember being on the movie. Come to the think of it, the movie downloaded in 3 seconds...sounds like it's probably spam. I just thought since I'm running Internet through a cable modem (previously dial-up), it was just really fast!!! Too good to be true I guess. I'll try downloading more movies and experiment with the VLC player. Regarding running Limewire on OS X...it doesn't work on OS X, that's why I'm using it on OS 9. I didn't notice that any of the file sharing software worked for OS X...otherwise, I would love to use if from there. Are you familiar with this?

Just download the OSX version, and it works as well as any--never perfectly, but Limewire (and Acquistion) are as good as it gets right now.

The download page is here
