downloaded files are not music files hi im new to limewire. when i download music files they dont play. the files themselves arent mp3, they're just "general files" so that cant be played. am i doing something wrong??? help please |
Make sure they have the correct file suffix at the end, and make sure your mp3 player is the default mp3 application. Also, please post your specs. |
thanks thanks for the help blackbird. im using a mac g3, system 9.2 |
okay nothing i do seems to work. id say 85% of the files i try to download are not audio files once they are on my mac. i cant possibly believe that such a huge percentage of the files on limewire are bogus. can anybody tell me what is up?? this is maddening!! thanks |
Try going into the OS 9 control panel that has "File" at the start of it that isn't "File Sharing" or "File Synchronization". As I recall (I'm working off of OS X, which has an incomplete 9 system folder, aka classic), in that control panel, there's a list of every single file suffix, and which program will answer to each file. I assume you tried opening them from within the MP3 program, so perhaps this is the problem. In that control panel, find the file suffix mp3, and specify your MP3 player to open and recognize those files. I think this will work, though I'm not sure. |
