![]() I haven't had access for months. I get the error java.lang.classnotfoundexception:a.a.a.b.main and the faq says uninstall and I do, but nothing helps...I used to be able to use limewire. It's so sad! Any ideas? Thanks so much! Q: When I try to run LimeWire, I get an error saying “java.lang.classnotfoundexception:a.a.a.b.main.” Is there anything I can do to solve the problem? A: You should be able to solve this by completely uninstalling LimeWire and performing a fresh reinstall. On Windows, you can uninstall LimeWire by going to the Start>>Settings>>Control Panel window and then selecting “Add/Remove Programs.” Double click on the LimeWire icon to begin uninstallation, and then follow the steps in the uninstaller. If there is more than one version of LimeWire listed, uninstall all of them. On other platforms, there is a LimeWire uninstaller in the directory where you installed LimeWire. Alternatively, you can also delete all of the files in the directory where you installed LimeWire, but just take care that you don’t delete any downloaded files that you may want to save. Once you have removed LimeWire from your system, download the new version from our web site and install it. LimeWire should work correctly the next time you go to run it. |

![]() Since your on this forum rather than the OSX forum, I shall refer to the Java compatibility problems as between early OS9.1/2 and later Limewire versions. The early Mac OSs run using Java 1.2.2 and 1.3.1, both of which have been significantly patched and replaced by Java 1.4.1. The developers took the design decision to continuously modify Limewire so that it remained compatible with the most recent version of Java, so you have two options. You can either download an earlier version of Limewire which should work on your machine (this used to work well for me: http://www3.limewire.com/download/2.8.6/ ), or you can download an updated version of Java at http://developer.apple.com/java/download.html Keep us posted on how you get on. |

![]() I have java MRJ 2.2.5 Isn't the java you mentioned for OS X? I am on 9.2.2. I finally fixed things. One thing I didn't do that the FAQ said to do was to re-download it. Instead, I had just reinstalled. Although I had uninstalled first, and searched for all the stuff to toss. I turned off my FAX stf software, which supposedly conmflicts with Java, but I tried it after that and it didn't work, so I don't think that was it. Then I redownloaded limewire. Then I installed it in German. It worked. But my German is bad, Then I uninstalled and threw out all the german pieces and installed it in English. It worked. |

![]() . . .I'm glad you got things sorted out although having to become a quick study in German is a little unconventional. ![]() ![]() As to MRJ 2.2.5, the system requirements are: a Macintosh computer with a PowerPC processor and Mac OS 8.1 or later but that's no longer relevant. Happy downloading David |
