Hi, i don't claim to be an expert, but the log says Java version 1.1.8 from Apple Computer, Inc. I believe Limewire requires MRJ 2.2.5 available here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75097 Dave |
Uh, I think you're confused macaholic. LW needs Java 1.3 in order to run. MRJ is different than Java. Two different sorts of things. I know this b/c the latest Java is 1.4.1, so MRJ must be a different app than Java, not just a diff name for a similar app. |
Hi Blackbird, Okay, I may be confused...where does the" JAVA " you are referring to reside in OS 9.1? And does iberini need to update from JAVA 1.1.8 to 1.3? |
Looking for my java in OS X, I found it in Harddisk-Library-Reciepts-Java1.4.1.pkg. OS 9...Good question. After looking at my ibook which runs 9.2.2, I couldn't find any definitive application or library called "Java". I found numerous java files, or code, which said which version of java they used, which was usually 1.0 or 1.1. Iberini needs to update his java, I'm pretty sure of that. |
So now you understand my confusion. In OS9 the only "upgradable" JAVA seems to be thru MRJ. If you still disagree, please explain how you would upgrade Java in OS9.1...:) I just searched APPLE, and confirmed, the JAVA builds you refer to are only for OSX. OS9 and prior implement JAVA thru MRJ. MRJ is Apple's implementation of Sun Microsystems' Java Virtual Machine (JVM). MRJ 2.2 (and newer), implement Sun's JDK 1.1.8 specification. MRJ provides the runtime software needed to run Java applets and applications, and the Apple Applet Runner, a simple utility for running applets without the overhead of a browser. So 1.1.8 is the latest version of JAVA OS 9 users can update to. I guess I was not the confused one after all. :p :p :p Dave |
Yeah, your totally right man. Sorry for the confusion. I don't know what MRJ version is necessary to run LW tho, anybody else know? |
Yep, MRJ 2.2.5 is the required version to run LW, available at... http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=75097 Dave |
