Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. Big Installation Problems Hey, I'm using a imac OS with 8.6 and I can download limeware fine, but when I try to install it it says it's corupeted. I have tried to install it more times than I can count and it alway says that it is corupeted. I have tried to install the versions 9.04, 9.1, 9.2 and it always say that I need to update my firmware and I tried to download firmware at download.com, and when I try looking for firmware at apple.com all I find is firmware for OS 9.0-OS X. It never works and I can't find 9.0, but I can't find it and i'm not going to buy it! So does any one no where to download firmware or upgrade to 9.0 with out buying any thing. Thanks, Darin Last edited by hawiiboy2002; July 10th, 2003 at 12:36 PM. |

Hi, 1. The original message that something was corrupted is probably not a correct explanation of the problem. I've learned that Macs sometimes give an error message which doesn't describe the real problem because they don't HAVE a message that says the right thing. That error message was a sign of some kind of incompatibility. 2. The other thing I've discovered through my own use of LimiWire is that once it causes a problem, the problem NEVER seems to go away even though we download fresh versions, upgrade, go to LimeWire Pro, rebuild the desktop, zap the PRAM, etc. I think LimeWire leaves something invisible on the hard drive that is almost impossible to get rid of and that SOMETHING effects every subsequent installation of LimeWire. I've read many, many threads about various problems that REFUSE to go away no matter how many times the user uninstalls LimiWire trashes every LimeWire file, installer and preference. My suspicion is that the LimeWire people aren't writing the CODE correctly for Mac. I've had the problem of LimeWire windows and Wizard appearing with no buttons to click. But pressing ESC force quits the program. Mac users don't use ESC as much as PC people, so I think that's a sign that the CODE might work better for the Windows side than the MAC side. Good luck. |

Limewire doesn't install any invisable files. i suspected the same and searched all invisable files...none were related to LW. I did find a preference file " .com.zerog.registry.xml " created by LW which of course would not show up in a Sherlock search. I believe the original poster of this thread has multiple problems not related to LW ie; firmware not up to date,MRJ and /or Carbon Lib. not up to date, insufficient or marginal memory...beyond the scope of these forums. I have updated CarbonLib from apple.com. I downoaded LW (the last version for Mac Classic) from LW site I proceeded installing MRJ and components LW installer asked me to do. After installing MRJ My Mac restarted and began unpacking components for LW installler. After that program quit and do nothing. I looked for files that LW installer unpacked, and found them in Trash. I catched them out onto desktop and start Lime_Wire installer in IA JavaInstaller (delete) 30870-folder. The program says "..Error Type 1 occured..." and asks me to reboot my computer. I Increased the preferred size of the installer in the "Get Info". - Nothing changes.... The other products that required CarbonLib and Apple Script work correctly (for example - Macromedia Fireworks MX, Flash MX, Dreamweaver MX) What do I need to install LimeWire????????? ======================= There is My Macintosh Profile below (From Apple System Profiler) Mac OS overview Finder: 9.1 System: 9.1 US Active enabler: None QuickTime: 4.1.2 CarbonLib: 1.6 File sharing: is on Multiple Users: Not installed Memory overview Disk cache: 20256K Virtual memory: 550 MB Used on volume: Macintosh HD Built-in memory: 384 MB Location Size Memory type J3 128 MB DIMM J4 256 MB DIMM Video memory: 6 MB Backside L2 cache: 1 MB Hardware overview Machine ID: 510 Model name: Power Macintosh G3 series Keyboard type: Apple Extended Keyboard (ISO) Attributes: Audio card Processor info: PowerPC G3 Machine speed: 333 MHz Nanokernel version: 2.21 Nanokernel pool extends: 0 Nanokernel scheduled CPUs:1 Network overview Ethernet built-in Link: n/a Speed: n/a Duplex: n/a Link: Speed: Duplex: Open Transport Installed: Yes Active: Yes Version: 2.7.4 AppleTalk Installed: Yes Active: Yes Version: 60 File sharing: is on Default AppleTalk zone: Not available Active network port(s): Ethernet built-in This network: 65280 This node: 43 Router: <not available> Hardware Address: xx.xx.xx.xx.xx.xx TCP/IP Installed: Yes Active: Yes Version: 2.7.4 Personal Web Sharing: is off Multihoming: is off USB Printer Sharing: Not installed Netmask: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Default gateway address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Domain: Name server address: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ======================= |

I hate to mention this, but updating to 9.2.2 would increase compatability. I hestitate to mention it, because I know (having done it) that it can be a bit burdensome, but I think it's worth it. |
