No downloads

I am not getting any downloads and this has been happening for a few weeks now, I wondered if anyone else was experiencing problems. My operating system is macos 9.2.2.
I would appreciate any help

Hi tartanmack

Are you getting stable connections? If so, ask your ISP if gnutella connections are being hampered (The gnutella netsize is down a bit: I hope it's just a seasonal cycle).

When "serial box" won't download, it's time to check my connections.

Thanks for your reply, each time i check the connections from other users they are very unstable and I feel this may be the problem as you say I hope it is only temporary

Try adding some more files to share. I'm not sure of the logic, but this seems to bring you to the attention of other hosts.

Re: no downloads

I am already sharing about 630 downloads so I don't think that is the problem but thanks for your suggestion

Sorry--I should have said "new or different" files.
Back to basics: would you mind giving a bit more info, like which version of LW you are using and how you connect to the internet? (modem/cable/router etc).
Are your searches returning many results?

I am using limewre pro version 3.4.7 and I have and adsl modem

That looks good. If you don't get at least 20 results when you use an "any type" search for, say, "serial box", try file->disconnect and then "connect". That will give you a new and hopefully better set of hosts you can monitor in the Connections pane. I find it useful to turn on the option to see the vendor to get a sense of who is handling my connections.

(This is a long shot: Lw is pretty good at selecting a set of connections that gives you a pretty extensive reach to the gnutella network. If you are running as an Ultrapeer, this probably will be even less help).

Other than the usual check java version/restart/uninstall/reinstall, I'm out of ideas what else you could check until you can speak with your ISP.

Re:no downloads

I get quite a lot of results but no downloading of them and I do disconnect and reconnect but still no success but I thank you for all the help. I read there will be improvement in version 4 so here's hoping that is so

Odd. Check your tools->options and see how many downloads you are allowed. Maybe you just have too many downloads waiting and need to clear the list and start fresh. I try not to have more than 4 entries in the download list (you can always resume the cleared partial downloads from the incomplete section of the library pane).
