LWPro 3.6.6 Can't Open "Options" even after restart

Just installed LW Pro 3.6.6 on my G4 and can't open the "Options". I tried doing a restart and it did not help.

Can anyone help?

et voilà October 23rd, 2003 10:56 AM

Salut, do a search in sherlock for limewire on all your harddisk. Select all files and trash them (be sure keep your dled files however..) then redl lwire from the lw website. It should work.

Bonne chance

JPM1920 October 23rd, 2003 01:35 PM

Thanks for the reply

I did the search and trash all LW stuff, even the one at the top of prefs that is related to LW. TWICE

It still did not help. I can't open "Options"

et voilà October 23rd, 2003 01:47 PM

Je suis désolé... May I suggest you to upgrade to mac os x 10.3 (available this weekend)? It is faster and more stable than os 9 on a quicksilver... and those problems will be gone... (I know it doesn't solve your problem directly but...)

Ciao

Mack October 23rd, 2003 01:56 PM

Me too...

I'm having the same problem, can't open the options menu. Also running os 9.2... bummer

stief October 23rd, 2003 04:49 PM

Did QuickTime have an upgrade to 6.4 for OS 9 too? It was causing trouble with Java apps like LW on OSX at least, and Apple is saying not to install it.

You can still get the 3.5.8 installer here
http://www3.limewire.com/download/3.5.8/
Did you submit a bug report so the developers can figure out what happened and post a fix if required? bugs@limewire.com

[salut et voilà! Panther--c'est bien? Peut-etre LW can run perpetually as a separate Ultrapeer no matter who is using the machine!]

et voilà October 23rd, 2003 07:01 PM

Salut Stief, oui la panthère est très très bien! In fact I recommand it to anybody as it really boosted the speed on my imac 450. It got a lot more speed, interface polish (LW looks much better, and uses less memory under heavy load such as running as UP), and it has a lot of system wide improvements. The more you use panther the more you like it. I wouldn't go even back to jaguar now... Windows seems so poor these days...

Allez l'acheter, c'est dans votre intérêt!
Ciao

Thanks for the replies,

My QuikTime go to 6.0.3.

I think I will just go back to 3.5.8 for awhile, until they get some bugs worked out.

I also started having problems with it freezing up.

Thanks for the help. John

stief October 23rd, 2003 10:03 PM

John, if you are also having freezes, could LW be running out of memory, especially if and when it kicks into Ultrapeer mode? The other idea would be to maybe check out the linksys firmware version. et voilà and I had fewer problems when we reverted to version 1.44.2, dated Dec 13 2002 for the routers we were using. Here's a link for the version tracker lists and comments . Just a couple of thoughts . . .

[merci et voilà pour la recommandation de la panthère--je l'achèterai en décembre]

JPM1920 October 23rd, 2003 10:35 PM

Thanks for the reply

I always give each LW 50000 added memory, so I don't think it would be that.

It is possible about the router. I don't know much about that stuff. I will pass the info to my son. He is the one that set up our network. We live in a rural area with no DSL or cable available, so we had to go to satilite broadband.

Thanks, again.

stief October 23rd, 2003 10:50 PM

I read a while back that someone on OS 9 recommends 128 megs, and recall 60 megs as the preferred allocation. I've also read of giving the Apple Applet Runner (in the MRJ 2.2.5 folder) 60 megs too. If you have the RAM, more can't hurt.

The satellite sounds cool . . . if upstream is sent over the land line via 56K modem (?), then disabling Ultrapeer in Tools->Options->Speed might help.

Best wishes

JPM1920 October 23rd, 2003 10:59 PM

Thanks stief

I will try even more memory. Can't hurt.

The Sat is great now going either way. Sure does beat the 28800 I was saddled with using the modem. :D

et voilà October 24th, 2003 01:40 PM

Salut, the os 9 version of LW cannot be promoted to ultrapeer, so that leaves out that possibility. You said previous versions worked. You can get them there www3.limewire.com/download/

to setup the router/firewall
if
Behind a firewall: open the port 6346
and/or
Behind a router: open and forward port 6346 to your computer (ie 192.168.1.100) and in preferences of LW -advanced-force ip- check the option and select the 6346 port.

Bonne chance

JPM1920 October 25th, 2003 08:46 AM

Don't know how to set router up?

I have my ip forced with port 6346 in the LW "Options".

I don't know how to make the changes concerning the router forwarding.

I have had a couple of uploads started on my "Monitor" page, but they always say "interrupted" when I go to "Monitor" to check so see if anyone is able to get uploades from me.

Thanks again for all the help.

:)

stief October 25th, 2003 07:47 PM

try http://www.linksys.com/support/support.asp , choose your router model, then choose the "Advanced" settings to find info on setting up port forwarding.

Linksys also has a toll-free support number buried in the manual that comes with the router.

With 3.6.6 Pro the options window does not open, furthermore it tends to freeze while starting and is pretty crashy for the rest of the time (OS 9.2.1 and OS 9.2.2.). Versions 3.5.8 to 3.6.3 however work pretty good.

"Options" working now. Thanks

The "Options" button is working now on LW Pro 3.6.9

wehali October 28th, 2003 01:50 PM

Lack of Option Window

Where did you find a download for LWPro 3.6.9??
My LWPro Download page shows that only 3.6.8 is available and I have tried it with the same results... No Options window.

stief October 28th, 2003 04:13 PM

the bottom of my 3.6.8 pro page has a link for the 3.6.9beta

wehali October 28th, 2003 04:52 PM

Thanks
I think I will wait till the final version 3.6.9 comes out, though.

JPM1920 October 29th, 2003 08:26 AM
