The verifying and saving is independent of the downloading the number of sources.

Right, but I was comparing the older versions of Lime wire with the current version. To me, it seems that the time from when I click on the download biutton to the time I the file is no longer listed as file to be downloaded has increased, despite the newer, multi-source downloading features.

The way it has been explained to me here, the older versions did verifying and saving also, but the program's interface just did not report it as such; you still saw the file being downloaded, even though your downloaded file might actually be in the verifying or saving stage.

My experieces with older and newer versions of Limewire indicate to me that I got a usable file faster with the older versions of Limewire, even though the actual "download" time maybe be shorter with v3.6.15.

Interesting. I haven't heard that, but I haven't been as in touch as I used to be.
