Default Quits after Loading

I just downloaded the installer again thinking it would solve my problem but the same thing keeps happening. When I click on Limewire it starts and loads, and intead of starting up it just quits. Help!

If no one can help do you know of any other free music download programs for Mac?

Try allocating more RAM to Limewire and to Java MRJ.

I could try that except I have no idea how to Now it loads up but the skin is blank.

[ETA: Now the skin loads, but I can't connect. I guess I'm in the same boat as everybody else now]

Nej--were you getting a "Error Type 2" when LW crashed? That's a memory error.

I can get that by clicking on the Menu Bar. Otherwise LW connected, uploaded, searched and downloaded OK. However, I thought I had given LW lots of memory, but when I clicked on the LW app in the Applications folder, turns out I had only given 12048 KB. It should have been 102048KB. The Apple Applet Runner has 61440 KB allocated.

Anyway, looks like an extensions conflict. I've a pretty basic set of extensions loaded in Extensions Manager, so I'll check later to try to rule those out. I also need to find out why it took all night to hash 36 files out of 52 (about 700 MB of the 1GB in the Shared folder). This never took this long the last time I tried LW in OS 9.

Compacting the heap can cause problems. Try increasing your disk cache.
