![]() Hello all, I seem to have problems installing LimeWire on my iMac running MacOS 8.6... I have downloaded the program - a 7.5 MB file called simply "install" - and double clicked on it, saw the running bar (telling me that something was being installed), but then nothing whatsoever was installed... The only change to my system that I found after this strange installation was that a few hundred(!!!) files were moved to the trash bin... (and it took quite some time to empty it!). OK, I thought, I probably downloaded the wrong installer... went to the European mirror, which said the file to download would be called "LimeWireMac.bin", downloaded it, but instead got that same file called "install" like it was at my first download from the LimeWire site. OK, then I tried to install this new one, but yet again there was only a heap of files in the trash bin and absolutely nothing else got installed on my mashine... What is it? Why doesn't the installer install anything? Any help or work-around will be greatly appreciated! Thanks to all in adfvance, Valery |

![]() just try to restart your computer and re-run the installer---it should then install limewire.... the first install simply add components to your comp to make sure you have the right stuff running to be able to use lime wire---- get a hold of me if you don't understand......tyler.brown@suppornet.net |

![]() Hi swatt, thank you so much for your reply and for your help! I did all like you said, but it still doesn't work... The stupid installer installs everything into the waste bin.... Nothing else installs on my computer. Do you happen to know what files or folders the installer is looking for while performing the installation? Perhaps those files/folders have different names on my German MacOS than those it is looiking for? Any further help wil be greatly appreciated! Sincerely, Valery |

![]() I am also getting a similar problem trying to install with Mac OS 9.1 I've tried downloading with I.E 5 and Netscape 4.7 and after sitting through a half hour download (56k modem) I get an error message right at the end of the download. Whats up with that? |

![]() Boy Valery are you in luck! I went through exactly the same thing. I run OS 8.6 on my iMac and it took 4-5 installs to find the problem. Quit everything else....that's it ![]() |

![]() Thank you so much for your reply! I did quit everything else and tried a new install - no use... Nothing was installed (except a lot of files in the waste bin). I also tried a restart without extensions and a new install - again, nothing was installed... I think they either have a major bug in their installer, or the installer looks for a certain file or folder which on my German MacOS 8.6 has a different name... Never happened to me with other installers before though... What a pain in the ... modem... this LimeWire installer. Any other suggestions anyone? Thanks a lot in advance! |
