![]() I know *beats chest* this has not much to do with LimeWire but since you guys n gals out there seem to be among the most competent wizards and witches roaming out and about, maybe there is no harm putting this question to you too this is what happened: my (microsoft) office package was going berserk earlier this afternoon so, I said, I’ll install it again to do things nicely I thought I might want do de-install the crackin old version first no de-installer anywhere went to Microsoft site looking for a de-installer, took me 2 hours to find out it’s called "Remove Office" and where it was surfacing from under the carpet again I ran "Remove Office" (of course with no programs running, no non-Apple extensions active etc) IT CLONKED MY SYSTEM! my system (MacOS 9.1 on a sawtooth G4) now does only half of what it is supposed to do and has done without demurring for over 3 years now (yeah, you got it, I’m not among the most intrepid system-wizards) amongst other things, that nice little control panel called "extensions on/off" (or something similar, my version is not English) causes the system to crash whenever I call it up so, you will say, install your system anew, and right you are. problem is I have no disk with enough free space right now on which I could back-up my jobs to install the system anew and a many-big-euro-job running which must be handed in tomorrow noontime I am thinking of installing only this vital control-panel "extensions on/off" leaving the system as is until I cash in the money to get a new disk trying to figure out how to install only specific parts of a system I ran into a utility called "Tome Viewer" which I thought would give me the possibility to install just the control-panel "extensions on/off" and work from there I haven’t gotten further and sent a similar mail to user-forums light and reft gimme reason to believe thanking in advance JoJo |

![]() I just meant to thank U for replying at all to a post that really has nothing to do with this forum, sleepey. the emergency is all over now: I managed to finish the urgent job on limited functionality and a prayer and then did a clean re-install. Come to think of it, I should overhaul the car too if I don’t want the same to happen with it. Hope there’s no Microsoft suspensions installed! JoJo |
