![]() Help! I've been struggling with Limewire for the past two weeks! Every time I download a sizable file, Limewire freezes my iMac400 g-3 while the file is verifying!? I'v increased the memory to the java Applet runner,I've installed the java update 2.2.5, and I've tried Limewire versions 3.8.5 and 3.6.5. I'm running on OS9.2.2 and guess what! I was trying to download a version of OS10 so I could upgrade. NO GO! Now what? |

![]() Sounds like it is choking on the file verification. see here for a workaround. btw--the OS is the last file you should trust via anonymous share--many were reported to be either something else, (renamed porn), .dmg's that won't open in OS 9 or beta versions. Gad--check with your friends or better yet--buy the CD's. They're probably cheaper than the bandwidth and well worth the peace of mind! |

![]() I followed the advice in another posting and modified the Limewire.lax text. So far the downloads are slow but they are completing, which is farther than I got before. I hope it stays stable so I can enjoy an ongoing happy relationship with Limewire and crew. Thanks, sberlin! |

![]() HELP! Limewire is freezing my computer again! Is it possible to open and use an unverified download from the incomplete shared file? My software download shows the right kb. size but i can't seem to lauch the installer. Where is it? I guess I'll have to wait 'til I install the Mac OSX to fix this problem and utilize Limewire fully. Any suggestions? |

![]() I don't know what installer the file requires (depends on the extension), but you can make a copy and try double-clicking. The chances are that the file size as shown is incomplete. Use the Finder's Get Info command to compare the file size in BYTES to the T-number added to the beginning of the incomplete file (the T-number is the what the final file size in BYTES should be, and I think it is also added to the beginning of an incomplete file in OS 9). Even if the file size is correct, you can't be sure you have the correct bytes. That's why the hash verification is also needed. If your machine is still freezing with no error message, maybe clean out the incomplete folder, use your extensions manager control panel to turn off as many non-essential extensions as possible, and try to concentrate on fewer downloads at a time. |
