![]() Hi, first let me say that in all other aspects i find limewire a really cool program, but i am having problems opening some downloaded files.I know this problem probably has been answered a 1000 times but please humour me.I am running os 9.2 and some dowmloaded files appear as a blank sheet of paper, some of these unzip, but just contain more blank paper files which do not open or have associated applications. in particular i have downloaded a toast file, but finder says it is an limewire document, i realise some downloaded file may me for a higher os and there fore un readable but i am sure that this is not always the case, any help would be much appreciated, thanks. |

![]() What extensions did the files originally have? In the meantime, here's a couple more ideas in adddition to the info already posted (a search for "limewire document" will give more. Here's one link for starts). if the file had an "exe" extension--forget it--those are mostly Windows programs -if you know the extension these files should have, as shown in the search results, just add it yourself after the file completes, since OS9 will truncate long file names. -if you know what the file type/creator codes are supposed to be, you can use something like File Type to set the icon properly. btw--Filetype also runs on MacOS 8.6 --if nothing else works, try using a program that can look at the first bit of a file as text. I recall very limited success using Norton or BBEdit to to see what program created the file back in the day. Cheers |

![]() Hey, thanks for the help, downloaded filetype and i think that it will be some help.No luck yet, but i am looking for a particular file on limewire so am downloading a lot of different things, so im sure some are not meant for os 9.2 or even mac os, but i cant tell until ive had a go at trying to get them to run. im actually looking for a disc copy mount, to override a original disc request for a particular program, no idea what file format it might have anyway, the search continues, thanks for the help. |
