I cannot install newer versions of limewire after download because
the mac does not know to open the .bin file.

See if there is an updated Stuffit available, or just drag the .bin file onto Stuffit.

It worked after downloading Stuffit Classic 7.03.

However, at first the new version of LW seems to be very slow.
