I have some files I'm eager to share but for some reason they are not being hit by incoming searches. I enable incoming searches and I can see incoming searches that match what I have but when I look in the library pane that shows hits and upload attempts it doesn't show any hits on my shared files. The only files that seem to get hits are files I've downloaded. Nothing that was in my shared folder on startup gets any hits. Any one know why that is?

Also Mac OS9.2.2 has a limit to how long of a name I can give a file so I can't be as specific as I'd like as to what it is and the annotate button is greyed. How do I get the annotate button to work so that I can enter more specific information so my files will be found easier? (once I solve the above problem any way)

Wow, I just searched this forum for annotate and out of all these posts the word is only mentioned in passing in four of them (including this thread). I must cunclude that no one has had ant questions about the annotate button either because they don't use it and don't care or every one knows all about it or no one knows anything about it and it's a big mystery to every one. hmmm... It did work for me once and I found it a nice feature for adding extra info to help people find my files but I have no idea what causes the button to go grey. If any one knows what event or criterea have to be met for the button to function, I'd sure like to know. Please.

Try the following: go to LW's Library (by clicking the Library tab) and click the Shared Folder. There, look for the files that you want to share and see if they are the same as the ones that you have inputed them in the Finder.
You can also try going to LW's preferences and see if uploading is enabled.

Yes, files are the same and uploading is enabled and in fact the bandwidth for uploading is set to max.

I've also noticed in the bottom left corner of the LimeWire window where it shows how many files are being shared that that is represented by to numbers seperated by a slash and that the first number corresponds to the number of files in the library window that have had hits and are shown in black text and the second number corresponds to the total number of files in my shared folder mostly shown in red text if they haven't had any hits. I haven't seen anything in the documentation that elaberates on what the red and black text or the 2 sets of numbers for the number of files shared means. Any thoughts?

Umm, yeah, someone told me what the red ones were but I forgot, sorry.
Btw, don't put the upload bandwidth to max: your Mac will only try to use bandwidth it doesn't have. Decrease it to a little less than what your connection's upload bandwidth is.
Also, I'm in no way an expert, but it might be firewall issues (not necessarily your's) that are keeping others from dlding your files. I think, if you wait, you'll eventually see someone dlding them.

I looked through the user's guide and this was all the text that covered the annotate button and I could not find hide nor hair of the gnutella resources section. Doesn't seem to exist.

Correct me if I'm wrong but since LimeWire's website points users looking for support to here then shouldn't there bee some people on LimeWire's payrole here to answer these types of questions? Or is this just where they dump us to fend for our selves? I'm confused.

Well, this is basically a forum where you can get help from either more experienced people (who might have had the same problem as you and migh have figured out a solution) or from the software developers themselves (but, I'm quite sure they're very busy people, what with having to develop new versions of LW for us, so that they can't really afford to come and answer posts everyday).
This is indeed where they "dump us" (if you will) but we are far from left to fend for ourselves. You just have to be patient and the right person will eventually come and post.
And sorry for annoying you with posts that bring no solutions to your problems whatsoever.

It took me a long time to figure out how to get the long song names. Use iTunes and add all the info by clicking on the song and using command-I. Then fill in the song name, artist, genre, etc.

Amazing! I never knew that about I-Tunes but it sure is helpful. Thanks for that useful bit of information.
