Thank you Lord of the rings. I am up and running and listening to tunes gratefully! Now I woud like to burn these songs onto a CD for my daughter. Is that even possible? and if so, how do I do it?

1st you need a cd burner & 2ndly burner software. Mac os can itself burn disks (using 'Disc Burner') if you have an internal cd burner. Just drop a blank CD-R into the cd-tray & a message should appear asking what type of cd you wish to burn. Select audio/music (not mp3.) I can't remember too much about this process for audio cd's because I have always personally used Toast. Roxio Toast can burn most types of cd, is very easy to use & can burn to external burners also. Tell me what you have.?

To get the tunes to your burner: go to LW's menu Options & Saving & this will tell you the name & location of LW's dwnld folder. Once found drag & drop these files from the finder into your burner app (for mac burner that's a disc image.) Alternativelly if you have iTunes, it should have burn options in the preferences.

Oh by the way, you shouldn't add personal names (yours/others) or other personal info to any of your posts.

Tell us what you have as far as burner apps go. Disc Burner app itself can be found in the Utilities folder. That's if you wish to open it manually. Disc Burner icon is below:

Default Burned successfully but can't hear tunes, only on my computer

Hi there,
Well I have been successful at downloading burning and playing back the CD ONLY on my computer. I can't play it in my car or on any CD player. When I was asked to prepare the CD I was given 3 choices Standard, audio, and MP3. I tried standard- didn't playback, I tried audio and my computer told me this only can be used wth Mac OSX, I have OS.9.1. I tried MP3 the playback is beautiful again ONLY on my computer. Any suggestions??? BTW The songs are recorded (burned) in Quicktime.

The tunes probably have QT icons b/c it may be how you have your file exchange setup. As for burning, you didn't tell me which burner softw you used. I'm guessing it was Disc Burner right? I do remember there was some issues about this which is why I always carried Toast around with me whenever I visited a mac. I'm in osx at present (& it doesn't open in Classic environment) so you'll have to wait 24 hrs for me to check it out. May I suggest you locate your Disc Burner & go to the menu bar & find Preferences. There should be an option for burn speed. Change it to the least (eg: single speed.) I think the default is for maximum speed! The problem is that some earlier burners didn't like audio disks burnt at high speeds (my 1st one would only allow single speed else it would ONLY play on my computer like you said.) In fact, even for today's very fast burners there can be issues burning audio disks at the highest speeds. You should choose Audio format. Standard is for data only & mp3 for mp3 players/dvd players only.
By the way, you should have posted this in your previous thread. I left questions there for you but you didn't reply. For the same topic stick to the one thread. It makes it easier for us to relate to all previous info & issues.

Sorry about this misunderstanding with generating a new thread for the same topic. Still trying to get my bearings here. I believe I disc burner is the one. I have downloaded audion however every time I go to use it it locks up entirely. BTW I am having trouble accessing your previous private e-mail could you possibly resend it so that I could read that too.
Let me ask you this, is it better to just install Mac OSX than to have OS 9.1. I feel I am very limited here with OS 9 and trying to create audio CDS. Thanks!

As far as LW is concerned, OS9 is limited b/c LW runs on Java & java has been advancing far beyond the last available version of java for os9. LW has also recently stopped developing new versions for os9.

As far as upgrading to osx, well that depends upon whether you have it already on disk (or wish to purchase it) & whether your computer has sufficient ram. You can use osx from G3 upwards but it would be quite slow to run on any mac with anything less than about 450-500 MHz proc. It depends what you're using it for however.

As far as Audion goes, are you sure you dwnlded the OS9 version & not the OSX version. The os9 version is 'supposed' to be able to run on os8.6-9.

It sounds like you have Apple's Disc Burner.
