Wink Unpopular Mac Freezing Bug

hello

Well i think that this bug is well kwow by the limewire dev team, but i hope speaking about it will make them work on it ;-)

--= THE BUG =--

Its a bug i have in all the past versions of Limewire (1.0 ; 1.1; 1.4, 1.6 and now 1.6d)

When 'connected' (with the green light) the mac sudenly froze for nearly 1 min. During this minute the only one thing you can do is moving your mouse. The mouses click are recorded and are all made in the same time after the systeme 'wake up'.

The Unpopular Mac Frezzing Bug do not only affect Limewire, but all the other application if you are runing a connected Limewire in background.

The Unpopular Mac frezzing Bug come a little more often when you are performing a search, but it's coming too even if you don't do a search.

Note : my mac config = PmacG3+MacOs9.2+Java runtime 2.2.5

--= Some tricks to avoid the bug =--

The first proposed trick it's to change the memory alocated for Limewire (via the info panel). For me with a 10000Ko memory allocated to the program the bug still exist but at a very little less frequency.

The second trick it's to transform limewire in a freeloader (his one is soo baaaaad).
-1- connect to the gnutella network
-2- perform a search
-3- begin your downloads
-4- disconnect
At this point : You are a freeloader (your shared files are not visible for others). But you avoid the UMFB and your downloads are more speddy (yes!).

--= Some expectations =--

I hope than the UMFB will be fixed in the futures versions of limewire so i will not have to be a baaaadd freeloader.

You can avoid the Limewire freezing problem by switching to Mactella.

Talking

Yes but Mactella has even uglier bugs that made me switch back to Limewire.
Version 1.7 seems to have minimized this problem, though.
