My mp3's don't show up under the library tab After installing limewire off this month's MacAddict CD, I dragged all my mp3's to the shared folder I indicated during the installation. Under the library tab though, the subfolders show up, but no files! I'm running MacOS 9.1 on a G4. The files are Quicktime files. Plus, I tried adding a .mp3 extension figuring that it needed it, but that didn't work either. (And yes, I did hit refresh many times). Rob |
figured out why this is happening Limewire apparently doesn't like certain characters in the filenames. '•' is one of them. (option-8) I have this bullet character in all my file names separating the title and artist. I would guess that all the option-characters don't work. I guess that's what you get when you don't rely on the Mac OS handling the file stuff and doing it yourself. You get inconsistency. |
I had the same problem, which I've just solved, thanks to you, Rob. I've just tried out your idea of adding the .mp3 suffix and it worked. In my case, it's not to do with the characters in the titles. Even completely alphabetic titles aren't recognised without the suffix, and even bullets are recognised with the suffix. |
