Default file format problems

I just upgraded to version 1.7 on a Mac G4 (system 9.1). the old limewire used to download my mp3s and save them as QuickTime-formated mp3 files. but now they are being saved as RealPlayer-formated mp3 files. I can't find a way to switch this back, but I would like to.

it's especially annoying bc I can no longer convert my mp3s into .aif files using Cleaner (I do this so I can burn mp3s to CD -- I have an old version of Toast which doesn't burn mp3s) bc Cleaner does not recognize files formated as Real.

Thanks,
Brad Kloza

Cool file format problems

I also got some problems with mp3 files.
You can use ResEdit in order to change the format :
Open ResEdit (if you don't have it, go to apple's website -> Download)
In the File menu, select "Get File/Folder Info..."
Then select your file
Type = Mp3
Creator = TVOD
Then save and quit.
Your mp3 file will be recognized as a QuickTime Player mp3 file.

Good luck :-)

Default at least this is a fix, but...

thanks man -- this works. but I'm still hoping to find a way to prevent it from happening in the first place since doing this to all my files individually is annoyingly time consuming. so if anyone out there has any insight into teaching LimeWire how to download my files as QT-format, it is still much appreciated.
