How do u stop Limewire from automatically importing? I just reinstalled the newest ver. of Limewire Pro on my Mac G4 (I had a hard drive go bad and lost programs & data...so I needed to reinstall Limewire Pro among others). Now, when a song finishes downloading from Limewire into my shared file...it automatically imports onto my iTunes. This can be annoying, especially on a badly tagged song that you have to search all over iTunes to find. I liked it better before, where the song simply downloaded into my shared folder, and I had to click on it to import it. I never miss tagging a song that way. Plus...when I clicked on the song to import, it always came up on my iTunes window--no matter how badly tagged the file. That isn't the case w/ the auto-importing thing (it just imports it, it doesn't play it...so it doesn't come up on the iTunes window). I have looked around my iTunes & Limewire preferences, and I can't seem to find anything relating to this. ...But I am not the greatest computer guy around. I may well have missed what I was looking for. So...if anyone reading this knows how I can change things so that it's the way I like it.....please tell me. I would be very grateful. Thanks a lot. :) |
Can't have looked too hard! lol :D Under the LW Preferences >iTunes>Importing & uncheck the option of Enable iTunes Importing. Then press the Apply button. You need to click the arrow at the iTunes option for the iTunes options to show. ;) :) BTW which program do you use to tag? I use mp3 Rage. |
Thanx a lot Lord. Sorry that I'm not so observant. I did look. --I appreciate the help. *waves* |
On my itunes there is a playlist called LimeWire. All tunes downloaded from LW go automatically into that playlist, and stay there until I am happy with them and I clear them. My way means that I might share a bad file for a day or so, but no more than that. The playlist is an ordinary one (not a smart one) and if I delete it it reappears. Once in a while a song will not import to iTunes and then I have to manually find it and open it from the iTunes folder (iTunes is set as my default mp3 player). I then have to remember to copy it to the LimeWire playlist in iTunes. I dappled with one or two of the Betas recently and this behaviour remained unchanged ... I think anyway... normally I use LW 4.8.1. iTunes 4.9 Mac OSX 10.3.9 My iTunes music folder is the same as my Save Directory, but I only share selected folders from this as well as from other places. iTunes importing is enabled in Limewire. Without this Limewire playlist I would find it very hard to keep track of things, I thought everyone had it, but it might depend on all the conditions I have mentioned. BTW There seems to be a new default setting to put all downloads straight back into share, whether they are destined for a shared folder or not. No doubt you have dissabled that option! :) I know this was not quite what you were looking for, but it seems like we both want to know what we are doing, (unlike a lot of folks who share all their preview files and god knows what else!) and this works for me. |
I got 2 Limewire playlists. One simply says "Limewire" and has a normal (non-smart) playlist icon. The other says "my name's Limewire" and has an icon like the music store (only blue instead of green) I dunno if that's a "smart" playlist or not. And I dunno why, but some songs I dowload go into one, and some go into the other. But thanx for reminding me about those playlists. Even though I changed my preferences back the way I had them before...it is still a good thing to keep in mind. I will check it periodically to see if I've missed anything. *thumbs up* |

The latter one you mention I think shows as I have sharing on my local network enabled, although I am not currently connected to another computer, however The list only shows the files I am SHARING on Limewire. The non smart list shows only what I have downloaded from Limewire and which has imported automatically into iTunes (the odd song has to be imported manually and this does not show). I'm getting slightly confused as to the relevance of the original question,(my fault not yours!) and If this doesn't help, let us know! |
New folder I use a completely new folder to dload to and manually "add to playlist" in iTunes with the copy to iTunes folder option enabled. Dumb it down and do it manually, and you will know where everything is and how it behaves! |
