how can I play .avi on my mac?
 

I downloaded a .avi file, however, quicktime can't play it, the sound can be heard but no image at all. I have a mac with OS X version 10.4. Please help! ;__;

Best advice here is get VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ (choose nearest mirror site) OR MPlayer http://mplayerosx.sourceforge.net/

Also, if you have an older G3 mac, XinePlayer for G3 can sometimes play movies that Quicktime and VLC won't. http://developer.berlios.de/project/...?group_id=3329
