Angry MAC os 9.1>ERROR IN TYPE 2??

I have the same problem as some many others with macs. everytime i run LIMEwire and click on my finder>> or even click on the "help" tab in my menu
Limewire just closes and says"Error in type 2 occured. You should save your work and other applications and restart the computer!!!!!!!!!" what the heck does this mean!?!? i just got a new POWER MAC G4 and i know its not my internet service provider because it is still running when lime wire shuts down. So i am baffled, what can it be?? PLEASE HELP ME !!!!!!!!!

pretty sure type 1 and 2 errors are 'not enough memory' errors. Allocate more memory see if that helps.

i completely have the same problem. it doesn't matter how many applications are open, nor how much memory is allocated to limeware: i have given limeware 100mb, and with only finder (and i guess the fiddly little things that don't show up on the right of the menu bar) running, the apple click always crashes limeware. it is easy to avoid: minimize limeware, click on finder's desktop, and then go to apple.

the apple click of death also removes folder access from the apple menu! (ie. it gets rid of the little triangle on folders, like control panels, that open into sub-menus).

any, this feels like a bug to me.

for the record: mine is a brand new ibook (g3/500?)/256mB/20gB/OS9.1.

thanks

I have the same problem but worse.

I run a G4 with a 512kbps cable connection, OS9.1, Norton System Works and Norton Personal Firewall (necessary with a cable connection). Because of numerous sytem crashes, I have recently clean installed OS9.1 and updated all software using the automatic update system every day...... So I am completely current in ALL software.

I find that Limewire crashes my system constantly, and in the process this corrupts my system catalogue files and means that I have to repair my disk after every crash. Fortunately I hvae two HD in the G4, so I can start form the second when the system folder is completely screwed up.

The problem seems to occur most frequently as a download completes and the app moves it from the incomplete to the shared folder, and at the same time teh anti-virus kicks in to check the file for virus infection.

After one crash, even after a Disk Utility check and desktop rebuild, the syetem refuses to work in a stable fashion until I have run Norton Disk Doctor which always finds a long list of errors, particularly in the catalogue structure and in logical file lengths.

It's time this issue was fixed..............

There is a thread somewhere else here (likle on the 5th screen of threads) explaining that the problem will go away by disabling the "context sensitive menu" (or something like that) extension. Check that thread out.

But, clearly still a Limeware or Java bug. I posted a bug report to the address they give "bugs@limeware.com" but it generated an error report of undeliverability! is there a meta-bug address?!

Default limewire crashes always ¥mac os 9©1¤

I'm having the same problemas on my iMac, running Version 1©7c -- instant crash by clicking on any point outside the Limewire window© I haven't lost prefs©, but it won't remember any autoconnection entries I add©

I found that by pulling an Application Pallete onto the Desktop, and then staring Limewire, I could use that to switch to the Finder and from there, the Apple Menu©

Hope they fix it soon© I really like this app©

Unhappy Same bug on my Mac...

I have the same problem - both the random quiting for Type 2 errors even though my Mac has sufficient RAM (512MB) and sufficient RAM allocated to the program (150MB). Also, I lose the hierarchical menus in my Apple menu.

Please fix this!

Talking limewire crashes mac9.2.1 always

GOOD NEWS..... I BROKE THE CODE....

you simply need to disable NORTON ANTI VIRUS, FAX STF, and FIREWALL EXTENSIONS...

then limewire performs like a charm...
