Thumbs down Fatal Application Error-- Limewire Won't Open

I am running Mac OS 9. have LimeWire 1.7c but as of today it won't open. I receive a message as follows: "Fatal Application Error. The application has unexpectedly quit. Invocation of this java application has caused an ExceptionInitializerError. This application will now exit. (LAX). Since I last used Limewire I installed Quictime 5 and Adobe Type Manager 4.6.2. Do either of these conflict with LimeWire ? What could I do to Open LimeWire?

Unhappy similar problem

Running Mac OS 9.2.1... Keep getting an error each time I try to start the app. First was using 1.7 then updated to the 1.8. Still get the following error (in detail):

java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalLookAndFeel: method setCurrentTheme(Ljavax/swing/plaf/metal/MetalThemeV not found
at com.limegroup.gnutella.gui.LimeLookAndFeel.<init>( LimeLookAndFeel.java:21)

at com.zerog.lax.LAX.main(Unknown Source)
at com.apple.mrj.JManager.JMStaticMethodDispatcher.ru n(JMAWTContextImpl.java)
at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java)

I told someone else to try and install it and it works fine on her ibook. But not my powerbook g4.

massive bummer. Hope someone has a fix.

I dragged Limewire all items except my shared folder to the trash, restarted, then re-installed LimeWire. Lo and behold they had a new version of it that needed additional software readily downloaded from the apple page. I forget what it was but the guides from apple are easy to follow. Next I re-installed LimeWire (1.7c). Now it's working fine! It's a bummer Gnutella didn't advise us that there was an update and left us to flounder and find out the hard way. Now my only problem isIcan't share the mp3s I made from my own CD collection. When I move a folder of them to my library and click on the folder it appears empty though I know the files are there! And I don't understand what the new "Burn CD" function is about but it looks like what was in I Tunes. Good luck and keep trying.
