These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Bans cannot be removed by the moderators and probably won't be removed by the administration. The Rules 1. Warez, copyright violation, or any other illegal activity may NOT be linked or expressed in any form. Topics discussing techniques for violating these laws and messages containing locations of web sites or other servers hosting illegal content will be silently removed. Multiple offenses will result in consequences. File names are not required to discuss your issues. If filenames are copyright then do not belong on these forums & will be edited out or post removed. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 2. Spamming and excessive advertising will not be tolerated. Commercial advertising is not allowed in any form, including using in signatures. 3. There will be no excessive use of profanity in any forum. 4. There will be no racial, ethnic, or gender based insults, or any other personal attacks. 5. Pictures may be attached to posts and signatures if they are not sexually explicit or offensive. Picture sample attachments in posts must not include copyright infringement. 6. Remember to post in the correct forum. Take your time to look at other threads and see where your post will go. If your post is placed in the wrong forum it will be moved by a moderator. There are specific Gnutella Client sections for LimeWire, Phex, FrostWire, BearShare, Gnucleus, Morpheus, and many more. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. Video link posting with less than a 2 post tally are considered as spam. 15. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues. Violation of any of these rules will bring consequences, determined on a case-by-case basis. Thank You! Thanks for taking the time to read these forum guidelines. We hope your visit is helpful and mutually beneficial to the entire community. |

stalling and crashing on osx I just purchased the new limewire 4.10.5 Pro and it is constantly crashing and stalling, far more than my old lime wire program. What can I do to correct the problem? I'm running osx.3.9. If it's a problem consistent with limewire and macs (and from the looks of the other posts it may be) I think it's your company's responsibility to warn me of the potential difficulties. |

Try changing the skin & see if you still have the same problems. Go to menu bar, View>Change Skins. Also check the Stickies out in the OSX sections for the forums. QuickTime 7.0.4 has major bugs with Java. The Stickies list the common problems faced by people. Quick answers to problems you may face. BTW how long after you open LW does it crash? How much HDD free space do you have? How much ram? As a Pro member, you can get direct Pro help from here http://www.limewire.com/english/content/support.shtml Check the link at the top for Pro support help. I am having a similar problem, with LM Basic 4.10 on OS10.3.9. The problem actually started about a month ago, before I upgraded from LM 4.9 to 4.10. The program just keeps quitting unexpectedly on me (and that is the error message I get). I now have seven in progress downloads that I can't seem to finish off (as much as 95%!) because everytime I start back up again, I'm always waiting on busy hosts. Shortly after it finally does start downloading something, it quits! I seem to be uploading quite fine (with the exception that it quits), but I can't seem to download anymore. I have 10Gigs free on my HD, and 512mb ram. I've even closed all other programs, but it doesn't seem to help the problem. If I don't find a solution soon, I am going to give up entirely on the whole thing because clearly I have more important things to do with my day. |

I'm having the same problem. OS 10.3.9, 1 gig ram, and the latest version of Limewire. It had started crashing on the free Limewire version and I thought the problem might go away when I went for Pro. Stll crashes unexpectedly. I asked support for advice last weekend but still have heard nothing - Limewire doesn't support Mac very well. They probably don't have a clue. Have you figured ut the problem? |

How much spare space do you have on the OSX system HDD or partition? That is important. The problem is generally Java. But then, your problem sounds like a general utilities run over might not do it harm. Repair permissions with Disk Utility after a safe boot. And then use the repair from Disk Utility on the install disk. Also consider Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! as this can add a lot to Virtual Memory (VM) use. Reduction in incompletes will reduce HDD space used via VM. |

Just updated to LM 4.12, and recently performed much cleanup and repair on my HD, but still within an hour LM quits, even if I couldn't get any downloads started, with only two in the line, and the incompletes is empty. I now have 35Gb free on my HD, and nothing else running, but it always quits, usually within an hour of connecting, even if nothing has gone up or down. |

Stalls/ freezes G4, 125ghz, OS10.4.6, LW 4.12.6... I would love to open a crash log, but LW just freezes up, when I hit quit nothing happens, when I go to Force Quit, it doesn't show LW as not responding (it just doesn't do anything, can't click or move anything) When I restart all seems fine.... but I haven't sat there & watched the freaking screen waiting for it to freeze. This has only started happening recently... |
| ||||
Try these things: 1. Delete the LW prefs folder whilst LW is closed. Found here /Users/your_username/Library/Preferences/LimeWire 2. Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! BTW are you sharing from external drives? |

Hey thanx.... It seemed to work, and like a knucklehead, gee why don't I try to find some of those obscure tokyo garage bands from the 70's.... bad ideal.... more zero download files.... purged again, we'll see what happens.... I'm going to back off a bit on the searchs. I am using an external HD for both my download folder location & shared folders. What would happen if I moved the application there? Can it run from there or does it need to be on the same HD as the internet link & the OS??? When ever I use LW, all of the other internet things SLOOOOOOW WAAAAY down.... so I generally set up searchs and go too bed.... kind of like fishing at night and waking up too see what I've caught.... Thanx for the help.... steve |
