Currently I download Limewire files to my username/shared folder. But I figure iTunes is copying all those files into my music folder, which is a waste of memory. Is this true? If so, should I just change my preferences in Limewire to download to my iTunes Music Folder?

I download straight to my iTunes music folder, and share certain artists from there. So only one copy of each song. Works fine on a Mac. I have heard that this might cause problems on Windows, but do not have confirmation of that.

Btw you can chose whether iTunes copies tunes into the itunes music folder or not in iTunes>preferences>advanced>general

I've been using Mac computers, iTunes, and Limewire for years and I didn't know you could just share certain artists from iTunes. I thought you could only share what you put or keep the individual (home) users shared folders. How do you make files available for sharing on Limewire from anywhere else?

You can share any folder on your computer by going to preferences>sharing>add shared folder, or by adding a folder in the Limewire Library. I don't like using the library, though as Limewire tends to hang when you do that, and there is the danger that you might use the delete function (rather than "remove frome save") which removes files instantly from your hard drive.

I believe you can add individual files in the Library, but I have never done this. I hope this helps

I've been reading up on it and it makes sense. I was worried maybe there were folders being shared that I didn't know about. I check my library often but I've been surprised lately by all that I don't know.
