Strange Problem. Well, to me this is a strange problem. I myself do not run a mac, however my friend wanted me to fix limewire. Seeing as I don't use Itunes, or a mac, I'm having troubles. Here I will explain. First off, my friend installed Limewire, however, it simply turned itself into a file folder on her desktop. Ok, first off it did not have the green circle (Limewire desktop item) which was odd. Secondly, and this really is the important part, when you double click on the desktop item, it automaticly opens Itunes. At the start I was thinking she simply installed it incorrectly, thus I tried it again myself. Sure enough same result. I didn't have long to work on this problem, but I thought I may aswell find out what the problem is while my friend is away. Anyways, If some one could give me a reason why this is happening (for learning purposes) and instructions how to fix this problem. Plz make instrctions very clear ... I'm not a Mac user myself. Thanks alot |

Did she download the program using Explorer? If yes, then that's why there's a problem. Explorer is not 100% OSX compatible & can't handle dmg files properly. So tell her to use Safari (found in the applications folder) to download LW, http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml The same problem happens to others who use explorer to download dmg files, but the file becomes an incomplete download. The system isn't sure how to handle the file & associates it with another program on the computer. |

Must be something else then. Sure she is using OSX? Which system version is it? What you describe will happen if you control-click an osx program & choose show contents. Normally after installing updates or programs one should do a SAFE start & repair permissions. SAFE Boot & Repair Permissions |

Ok, completly different and random question, however, just out of sheer curiosity, (and for learning purposes), when it says a file is currupted, what exactly does that mean? a Virus enlodged in the file? Anyone care to explain? |
