how to open downloaded programs?

I downloaded final cut 3 and would like to know how to open/install it now ...
I know, with music files for example, you have to add the .mp3 ending to the file. Is there any trick like that with programs??? Thank you!

I have the same problem with finalcut pro 3, i try to download several version of it in limewire and when i try to launch it (on osX), it fails. The finder icon bounce and that's it, nothing else! help!!!
