Movie Downloads problems & questions I using a G4 Mac with OS 9 along with Quicktime 5 Pro. Having trouble when I download large movies from Limewire in AVI format - More than 95% the files I attempt to download just don't plain work; I'm using highspeed cable for internet access. After 5 days of trying, I finally was able to download a movie in two parts (107,357k & 159,407k) , but only could get 36 and 38 minutes on both parts to play. I could not use Quicktime or a Divx player to play and eventually found a Windows media player 6.3 that works. The quality is not that great but I can see and hear what I downloaded. Is this a common problem?? Is there a limit for the size of a file you can download?? Can someone suggest a URL/link that I can read about more tips and helps for the above. Some of the Files that download can't be opened in any program - what the deal with that?? Thanks in advance - Gek bimmmmer@excite.com |
AVI files aren't all the same From what I hear the AVI format is not entirely the same all around, although most are the same. Search VersionTracker.com for a 3rd party application to play them, otherwise look for Mpegs instead. |
Different versions of the Divx codec are known to cause problems. :-) |
