My guess is that you just downloaded a file type that can't be recognized by any programs on your computer.
Check the type of file it is (.mp3, .asf, or whatever). Then check that you have <a href="http://apple.com/quicktime/download" target="_blank">QuickTime</a>, which is a free download. (If you didn't already have it, you should be able to open the file with QuickTime.)
Then, if you still can't open it, check that the format of that file is compatible with QuickTime — see <a href="http://www.apple.com/quicktime/specifications.html" target="_blank">this list</a>. (Note that a .rm file needs <a href="http://forms.real.com/real/download/download.html?src=000522realdownloadchoice&dc=2192 18217" target="_blank">Real Player</a> and a .asf file, among other types, needs <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/searchdl.asp?Search=Product&LangIDCODE=20%3Ben-us&Value=766&OpSysID=244&Show=Alpha" target="_blank">Windows Media Player</a>, both of which are free). Most common media types, like MP3, MPG / MPEG, AVI, etc., can be opened with QuickTime Player.
If you can't open the file with any of these players, then... I dunno. |
