No Avail! I am having this problem too. I have read all these threads, tried the solutions with MP3 Rage and FileTyper, but still to no avail. Why would LimeWire change the resource fork anyways? If anybody has any solution to the .sit files not opening, it'd be GREATLY appreciated. To the LW dev team: I think your product is awesome but it seems this problem is a major headache for all, please take note and come out with a Patch or update. Thanks |

Up To Here I've about had it. I've tried all the suggestions, too. How loud do you have to type before the LW devs hear. I agree, the program has merits, but you can't trust it for serious, large downloads. It may be fine for play toy dls. Hey, anybody know of a better app? That's a stupid question! If you did, you would be using it instead of reading the frustrated LimeWire users COMPLAINT forum. Wake me up when it's over! |

I think I've finally figured it out Open MP3 Rage and drag the LimeWire doc into the "Display and Edit MP3 File Tags" bar, in the upper right hand corner of the window that will open, you'll see the filename, then two windows labeled Type and Creator. Change Type to: SITD and Creator to : SITx Another post had an ! mark after the Creator and that works for some small files, but for large application files this worked for me. Please post if this works for anyone else. |

So, I'm happily downloading tons of mp3's...without a hitch. I can click on launch (or even double click on the file) while it's downloading, and listen to it in iTunes...NO Problem! I've got music, people are sharing music, everyone's happy....until one day I click on the file to play and it won't. I can go into the file where the mp3 is stored click on it and tell it to open with Quicktime translator and it will play...but that's not the point. Why in the hell are my files suddenly downloading as documents? I haven't change any setting...nothing. I even purchased LM Pro to see if that remedied the problem....NOPE! Still downloading as documents. Lame, very lame. Anyone got any suggestions? thanks! Vic |

How to open LimeWire or other dmg files Two ways. If Toast dosn't open the file then use MacLink Plus. 1. Open toast ,open other, select disk image drag the dmg file onto Toast and select mount disk. If a disk dosn't show on your desk top go to. 2.Open MacLink Plus Drag the dmg file onto MacLink Plus, open the file icon and select the lower icon, select decompress on MacLink Plus. The file will open the same as expanding it with stuffit . When the file has expanded it will also be a dmg file, go back follow step 1. You should now have a disk image of the file on your desktop. If you are in OS 9, go to VersionTracker.com and download Tech Tool Lite 3.0.2. Use it to rebuild your desktop file, which is the most likely cause for the problems you're having. |

A Fix to documents will not open? Hi Everyone I discovered that after downloading your file it will not have a mp3 file type at the end of the file name, and I also found that the file name was too long to add mp3 to it , so I deleted at least 4 letters or spaces then added .mp3 to the end of the file name then clicked outside the file box and wow it turned into a quicktime file. Hope this works for some one else. Bob |

I have the same problem with .sit files mysteriously ending up as limewire documents and I am not able to open them!!! It's so frustrating!. I downloaded the MP3Rage and that isn't working. When I drop the file onto the MP3 Rage, nothing happens. I can't find it browsing through my files although I see it on my desktop clear as day. It's like it's invisible!! I am just confused and frustrated. Someone please help! Why doesn't this work? I have had this problem many times before. Thanks, Gabrielle |
