You can try to uninstall and then download again and reinstall, maybe you missed something during the install.

iTunes

I have a mac andI use iTunes as my audio player as well. I tried reinstalling, and reonfuguring it, and it will not launch any songs at all from my library. I cannot listen to songs I have downloaded at all. How do I get the songs to play at all, and how do I get it to play them via iTunes?

Does your itunes work at all or is it just with the mp3s that you download? After you download a song you should get the mp3 icon that is white with a blue music note on it. Do they look like that? I have mine set to be saved to Itunes folder I then need to launch it out of that folder to put it into itunes.

iTunes

my iTunes works, and the icon does not have a little note on the white. I have Limewire on my iMac and I use iTunes on it there, and it worked without me doing anything special.

Try an autotyper...

Try looking around on the web for a tool called "iTunes autotyper 1.1" - it's a simple way to change the application data in the resource fork to iTunes.

When you get the song open in iTunes, use 'apple-i' and the 'tags' tab to edit song information so it makes sense in your music library database.

Good luck!

I have an Imac G3 and after a song is downloaded it is a white document with a blue music note like i said. I was having an issue going on that I was trying to correct so I unistalled Limewire with the uninstall icon thats in the Limewire folder and then all of a sudden now the songs I would download were coming up plain white and i could not launch them in itunes, previously everything was running like a charm. I think it took me 3 times unistalling before I could get them in the itunes format. I would suggest to try again. Are you familiar with the Macsatellite as an alternative? I also use that and it works fine but i favor the Limewire so keep trying Good luck

where do you find the itunes autotyper 1.1?

Had a similar problem with iTunes and Limewire MP3s. This worked for me: Enter iTunes. Select Advanced menu from the top, then the Convert to MP3 option. Then select your problem MP3 from your Limewire Shared file. I know it's converting MP3 to MP3, which makes no sense, but it works over and over again for me. Hope it works for you guys, too.

I am also having trouble with Limewire not playing my downloaded mp3s. It doesn't even appear to have the player. Anyone know why that is? Do I need to uninstall and reinstall?

Just go to your options tab and uncheck the limewire player it will launch the default player.

player config probems.

I was spoiled with the older version of Limewire. I'm running on Mac OS 9.2 and I used to click on the 'Launch' button or just double click on mp3s, mpgs, whatever and my default players, itunes or quicktime, would start. Now, on LW 2.2.4 when I do this nothing happens. Sure I can get around it by opening the player first, converting the files through the player app but it seems like a whole lot of extra steps I didn't have to take before.
Also, I'm not sure if this by design but there is no Limewire player in options listed under tools, nor is a player option reflected under the library tab. Is this a Mac specific thing or is a re-install recommended here?

launching from LWire 2.3 into iTunes.(ditto)

Ditto, folks..
I had the LWire freeware, and it defaulted to iTunes, now quicktime player launches when hit the launch button in LW library.
* I saw some instruction to de-select something in the LWire Options menu, but there's nothing to de-select.
-guess I'll try the reinstall again and see what happens.
*Another thought:
at the end of a downloading session, open your iTunes Library and the download file from LWire, and transfer them (highlight/drag) them over to iTunes, or try an import function.. it's worked pretty well for me, though sometimes I have to double check that they actually show in the iTunes Library, (sometimes they're in the iTunes library file folders, but not on the player library itself..odd but it happens)

Go to the Apple Menu and select Control Panels. See if you see anything called File Exchange. If you do, open that. You'll see a window where you can choose which application opens which type of files. Scroll down to mp3 (or hit the M key to get there much quicker). Highlight the application, which is probably QuickTunes, select Change, then choose iTunes.

itunes

My mp3s still are downloading as quicktime format. I am now using a program called the itunes associator which works awesome and all you need to do is drag and drop onto its icon and it instantly converts to Itunes format. This Itunes associator can be found at Macupdate.com.

Check it out!

Here are some tips I picked up from another thread. The first one was left by some obnoxious nutwing, and I quote:

"Go to iTunes... Open preferences in the EDIT menu... Click the GENERAL tab... Under "Internet" go to: Use iTunes for internet music playback... Click on SET... Click OK to exit..... DONE!!!!"

Believe it or not that one worked for me.:)
Here's the other:

"Go to the Apple Menu and select Control Panels. See if you see anything called File Exchange. If you do, open that. You'll see a window where you can choose which application opens which type of files. Scroll down to mp3 (or hit the M key to get there much quicker). Highlight the application, and select your preferred player."

This one I'm not too sure about but if it helps anyone, what the heck. See Ya!
